ABASI ALLY (24)
I am so familiar with the name Kandoro, it is because I was going around Bagamoyo town streets selling water in small filled wrap plastics packs. Kandoro is the surname name of former Dar Es Salaam regional commissioner( Hon. ABASI KANDORO), he prohibits people to sell water in the plastics packs due to the safety of the habitants of Dar Es Salaam, and because that water type had no brand name since had prohibited people started to call it Kandoro, any person at that time who was selling water fled in the plastics packs named Kandoro, considering that my first name is similar to the first name of Honor ABASI KANDORO, also they call me ABASI KANDORO instead of the name ABASI ALLY ABASI. Born 1997 at Bagamoyo District Council - Coast region Tanzania. I joined Mtoto Mchoraji in 2016 to learn and develop my talents. Now I am good at Contortion(Yoga/Body flexibility), Hand Craft, African Traditional Dancing, Tissue(AERIAL SILK), Hand standing, and flips. I am so proud now I can show my talents and train others(ready to be hired) I also willing to learn new things.
MARY ZAWOSE (26)
Mialazi(MIA), I am gogo by tribal, daughter of Dr. HUKWE ZAWOSE the former musician and music teacher of Bagamoyo College of Arts(TaSuBa). Born July 30th, 1995 Bagamoyo in the Coast region Tanzania, I am the 16th kid at Zawose family(Children). We are all artists, heritage from our beloved father(Late Dr. Hukwe Zawose). I live in Majengo with my mother, she is a local farmer.
Joined Mtoto Mchoraji 2017 so I can develop my talents as well as learn and get more skills. At Mtoto Mchoraji I am learning Dance and Dance Movements(African Traditional Dancing), Drumming Hand Craft, and Circus Act. I am willing to teach others what I have learned.
FAUSTINE MAYUNGA (20)
I am a dancer and juggler, ever since joined Mtoto Mchoraji Centre I feel safe and proud. I learn a lot of stuff through Art and Education, apart from that they taught me general life and life skills now I realize that all humans are the same, and Sharing is Caring.
HAJI HAMIS (22)
Haji Hamis Rajabu aka Bigo boy, born in Bagamoyo district on January 1st, 2000. I live in Ukuni village. My job is art. Before joining Mtoto Mchoraji Centre in 2016, I was selling mangoes but it wasn’t a permanent job because it was a seasonal business. I remember on the day in 2016 it was a mangoes season I arrived at Mtoto premise popped in I was very impressed by the things some kids and youths they were doing. I used to love art but I couldn’t have a chance or direction I do it so I went back the next day to ask for a chance if I could join in. I was given instructions and forms to send it to my parents or guardian so that they could fill. I was so happy to see that my dream of becoming an artist is successful. At Mtoto have learned Dance and drumming, fireworks, unicycling, hats juggling, flips, drums making, and jewelry making. For now, I have some experience in art and culture, my expectations are to be a great artist and art ambassador.
MANENO SHOMARI(23)
I was born on 12th April 1999, I am the fifth child in Shomari's family. Mtoto Mchoraji is my second home, joined the center in 2009 at the age of 10 when I was in grade four at Mwanamakuka primary school in Bagamoyo. 2013 finished my elementary school and joined secondary education in 2014 while attending Mtoto Mchoraji, completed my secondary education in 2017 then use to be at the premise all the time. The purpose of joining Mtoto Mchoraji is to developing my talent and learn various artistic techniques. Successfully studied dance, drumming and dance rhythms composing, drum making, Jewelry making, acrobatic(tissues - aerial silk) as well as painting, and simple industrial design. I have been performed, exhibited in various occasions, events such as Bagamoyo Art Festival, Watoto Art Forum, etc.
MWANABARAKA HAJI (19)
You can call me ''MWANA''. I am a college student who joined Mtoto Mchoraji Centre when I was in primary school. I do Contortion (Body flexibility/Yoga), Areal Tissue, and Dancing. Since joining Mtoto I made lots of friends in and out of Tanzania. I love people because we are one.
ABRAHMAN MPITA(22)
Born in Bagamoyo district in 2000. I have been raised by a single parent, my mother how staying at Gongoni village in Dunda ward Tanzania. Joined Mtoto Mchoraji Institute in 2016 at the age of 16, I was interested in learning to drum but ever since joining the center I came closer to much artistic act and I got chance to learn a lot of stuff such as Biking(unicycling), Juggling, Limbo(playing with fire), Fliping, Dancing, making drums, handcraft and life skills. I do love bikes than other acts that why they call me Dulla Smart Bike.
SUDI JUMA (20)
My friends use to call me SUDY BROWN, also I am a college student. Joined Mtoto Mchoraji Centre 2019, still learning Dancing, Drawing, Jewelry making, Drumming, Drum making, Rola Bola, Hat juggling, Singing, Acting(Drama), and Life Skills.
HAMAD KESSY(22)
Born in Bagamoyo district on 13th Dec 1999. I joined Mtoto Mchoraji center in 2009 when I was in elementary school. I couldn't attend secondary education so I spent most of my time at the center, since joining Mtoto Mchoraji am so happy that I develop my talent and learned lots of artistic techniques. Successfully studied dance, drumming and dance rhythms composing, drum making, Jewelry making, acrobatic, circus, and simple drawing. I have been performed, exhibited on various occasions, events such as Bagamoyo Art Festival, Watoto Art Forum, etc.
